About Newborn Photography
There is something incredibly special about newborn photography. Those first few days, that first couple of weeks, just fly by, and before you know it, your brand new baby is starting to become more alert, stay awake for longer and change visually. Having 4 children myself, I absolutely love the newborn stage, the days after you bring them home from hospital. It goes too fast! This is one of the reasons I decided to start specialising in newborn photography, capturing them in their first few days before they start changing.
All sessions take place in my studio, which is situated on a farm in tranquil East Sussex. It’s quiet and peaceful with plenty of parking outside. I have all your home comforts available so you can totally relax during the session and rest.
As it’s not unusual for a session to last 2-4 hours, I always allow plenty of time for you to feed and comfort your baby. I’am never in a rush and I don’t book in sessions afterwards as it’s so important to get these precious images.
The studio does get very warm, as newborn babies will be naked for most of the shoot so need to feel cozy. As a result, I advise parents to dress lightly – or to wear layers. One of the other key things to a good newborn photography session is a tummy full of milk, so extra feeds are often needed!
If you already have children, they are also welcome, and I always schedule time during the session to take sibling photos and family photos. Depending on their age, you may want another family member to come and collect them once they’ve had their photos done so we can concentrate on baby. Weather dependant, there’s a lovely park just round the corner!
Around 1-2 weeks after your newborn photography session you are invited back into the studio to view your images. This is your chance to look through your gallery and decide what photos or artwork you’d like to purchase. It’s always amazing to see how much they’ve changed since your session!
